Resetting two-step sign-in for someone
When a teacher's phone is lost, an administrator clears her authenticator app so she can set one up again.
Someone whose phone is gone can still enter her password, but there is no app to give her the 6 digits. Resetting clears the app from her account so she sets one up again the next time she signs in.
If she still has the old phone, she doesn't need you: Set up a new phone on Your profile moves her across with a code from the old one.
- Open Teams and find her on her team's card, or under Not on a team.
- Open the menu beside her name and choose Edit.
- The dialog says Two-step sign-in, and whether she has set one up. Choose Reset.
- Read what it says, then choose Reset two-step sign-in. Keep it backs out.
A school's administrators reset it for staff at their school, a district's for anyone in their district, and Mastery Board's for anyone — who can also do it from the Admin area. Nobody resets their own, and nobody resets someone who runs a place they don't run themselves, so a school admin can't reset a district admin's. Where you may not, there is no Reset to press.
After a reset, her password is the only thing between her account and whoever signs in next. Make sure the person asking is really her.
A reset signs her out everywhere, and it is recorded in the change log with who did it and when.
