Signing in, and the code from your phone

Mastery Board holds children's school records, so every account signs in twice over: your password, and then a 6-digit code from an app on your phone. The code changes every 30 seconds, so someone who learns your password still can't get in.

Setting it up, once

1. Sign in with your email address and password. Mastery Board then shows Set up two-step sign-in.
2. On your phone, install Microsoft Authenticator from the App Store or Google Play, if it isn't there already. Any authenticator app works.
3. In the app, tap +, choose Other account (Google, Facebook, etc.), and point the camera at the code on screen.
4. Type the 6 digits the app shows into Mastery Board, and choose Finish setting up.

Setting up on the same phone you're reading this on? Choose Can't scan it? and copy the key into your app by hand instead.

Every time after that

Your password, then the 6 digits showing in your app. The codes change every 30 seconds — if one is refused, enter the one on screen now rather than the one you started typing.

A new phone, or a lost one

While you still have the old phone, open Your profile and choose Set up a new phone. It asks for a code from the old one, then shows a new code to scan. The old phone stops working as soon as the new one is set up.

If the phone is already gone, ask an administrator at your school to reset your two-step sign-in. You then set it up again the next time you sign in. Administrators ask another administrator at their school or district.

A reset signs you out everywhere and is recorded in the change log, with who did it and when.
