Marking the letters and words a child missed

A skill can hold the letters, words or sentences that are on the paper. They come from the board's template, so every class using it marks the same ones, and the sheet you print has them on it — circle what the child misses, then tap the same ones here.

1. On the Assessments tab, press the child's name to open them on their own.
2. On the skill, press Start. Everything on it is marked correct, which is how it nearly always goes.
3. Tap each letter or word they missed. It turns red and crosses out, and the score beside it drops by what that one was worth.
4. Tap it again if you were wrong. clear, beside the count of what they missed, puts the skill back to not assessed.

A sentence worth a point for each of its words is drawn inside a dotted outline, with every word its own tile. Tap only the word they missed: a child who read all of “Is it quite big?” but one word has lost one point, not four.

Typing a total into the grid instead replaces the word-by-word marks, and the skill then says it was recorded as a total. That is true — a number says how many were missed, never which. Start over appears on it: press that to mark everything correct again and tap the ones they missed.

What this feeds

What to reteach, beside the unit's name, lists what the class missed, hardest first — ordered by the share of the children it was asked of, so a word four of five got wrong comes before one five of nineteen did — with the names beside each. A child's own page lists their words to practise, unit by unit.

That page counts only the marks where the words are known: tapped one at a time, or full marks. A mark entered as a total is left out rather than counted as having missed nothing.
