Marking a whole class at once
The Assessments tab puts every child down the side and every question or skill across the top, and saves each mark as you type it.
Open the class from Classes and press the Mastery Board's card. It opens on the Assessments tab, on the unit the class is up to. Along the top is every unit on the board, each saying how far through the class you are on it — “18 of 25”. Press another to move to it; only what is under the strip changes.
Typing a mark
- Press a cell and type the mark. The line above the grid says what to type for this unit — points, 1, .5 or 0, a rubric score, or 1 and 0 for a checklist.
- Arrow keys move between cells. Enter goes down a row, which is how you work down a question.
- Leave blank anything you didn't ask. A blank is not a zero — it is left out of the percentage.
- At the end of each row, all fills the row with full marks so you can change only what they missed, clr clears it back to not assessed, and abs marks the child absent.
A number the item cannot hold — 11 on a question out of 10 — is ringed red and not saved, and the cell goes back to the mark it had.
After the marks come that child's Score out of the whole unit, their % and their Level. The row along the foot is the Class average.
Saving
There is no Save button. Each mark goes on its own a moment after you stop typing, and the line above the grid reads Saving…, then All changes saved.
If a mark doesn't get through, that line reads Some changes didn't save, with the reason and a Try again beside it. What you typed stays on the screen. If you have been signed out, the message gives you a Sign in link that opens in another tab, so this page keeps its marks: sign in there, then press Try again.
Closing the tab with a mark still unsaved asks you first, and anything waiting is sent when you leave the page or switch away from it.
